Ready to rock ‘n’ roll…
So finally I have everything that I need in order to go out and get paid for driving my car. After a process that has taken some 4 months to complete I can now go and earn some money. I have to admit that I am somewhat nervous about starting, what if I get the wrong address? Should I talk to the passenger? What if they think I am driving too slowly or fast? Oh man, there are a million different things going on in my head right now.
I guess it is just like starting a new job to do with anything, especially something that you have never done before. Stepping into the unknown is always a daunting prospect but I feel that I am ready for this step. I just need to get started and then before I know it, it will become second nature I am sure.
So if you get me to take you from a to b, be patient and take it easy on me… after all I could always take you further away from your destination than you started!
Congrats, i am happy to hear your next step in life brings you closer to your family. i will be in uk around new years for a wedding and would love to meet your daughter, i still owe your wife some butter. send me the adress again.
Big love and best wishes on the new venture, don’t worry about directions, turn on the maurdaunt charm if you get lost.

I hope all goes well as you take those first taxi passengers. I was wondering how you will handle all the late night apres-pub drunks who quibble about the price of the fare, or throw up in your car….Do you think you will be handling it with humour, or with a bit of intimidation (you ARE tall – at least, taller than me). Are there certain rules you have to follow to deal with ‘situations”? Just wondering,

Hello! I have been blogging mates with Laura for a while now over here from Australia, good to see you on here too! Wow, I can imagine becoming a taxi driver would be a little daunting. but will make fascinating blogging!
I said to Laura if you guys ever want to do a life/house swap from UK to Australia…. happily do so – we have a baby 5 days younger than Ella! Although we live in a pretty boring town… still it is Australia right?
Good luck with the taxi thang!
Starting new things are always scary… This post has given me a good appreciation for what it’s like to be taxi driver. My rule is that after 6 months at a new job you feel as relaxed as you’ll ever be.
